How to: Homemade Peanut Butter

Automny weather gives me cooking germs. Saturday ánd Sunday I had people coming over for lunch in Ady's Kitchen. I kept it simple, I served soup. Carrot soup with pea pesto on Saturday and green veggie soup with carrot/ricotta paste on Sunday. Orange-green, green-orange; I love colorful dishes.

Being a host is o'so fun, but it's exhausting! World War III in Ady's Kitchen needs some serious attention and I don't like to leave it like that, I like my kitchen clean & tidy.  Armistice for a second. 'Cause by the end of the afternoon, I felt a revolution coming up.

A while ago I bought a bag of peanuts, in the shell. I read somewhere about how easy it was to make your own peanut butter, so I thought I could give it a try...

What you need:
- oven on 180°C
- peanuts - I advise you buy pre-peeled ones to eliminate a few of the other ingredients
- patience
- blender
- soothing creme
- Flamazine
- 1.5 glass of red wine (amount and kind of liquid depends on your own preferences and your peelingspeed)

The order of action is muí imporanto!

1. you pour yourself a glass of wine, make sure it's half full, never half empty!

2. this step is optional, but crucial for me: smooth sounds - Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles and Louis Armstrong e.o. kept me company

3. you start peeling the freakin' nuts... TIP: peel them completely, don't forget the thin peel, 'cause otherwise you're gonna need Flamazine later on. Peeling nuts is comparable to life. Most of the time you know what's coming: 2 nuts; but sometimes you get disappointed, you only get one nut or the nut is rotten; in some lucky cases you even get more than you hoped for: 3 nuts. Knowing this, eases the pain of going through with the painful peeling. You always have to think about your goal, one must always have goals! And if you think about all the advantages of peanut butter, I can't imagine why someone would quit!

4. put them in the oven for about 15mins until they get a gold brown color and a verrrry delicious smell that fills your entire house m-m-mmm!

5. you can now put some soothing creme on your thumbs

6. if you stopped reading point 3 after "freakin' nuts", you can start taking off the thin peel while the nuts are hot. It's important you start blending them while they are still hot, because now the peanut oils are still active. So, take another sip of your drink, man up and get the job done!

7. blend until it becomes a creamy paste

8. while blending you can put Flamazine on the rest of the fingers

Result: a devine, pure peanut butter without any additives. The only thing that could have made me even happier was if I had picked my own nuts, somewhere far away. I know, I'm nuts, but I love nuts, so end of story.
