Preppin' for Berlin

It's only a week now! Counting down and doing some research for my next trip. I am so much looking forward to this, not necessarily because of the destination - I don't feel that kind of love for Germany as I feel for Southern Europe...- but because I get to see my dear Kroatian friend again! It's been since summer that we haven't met, time flies so fast, unbelievable!

What do I expect of this trip:
- wandering around, getting lost in the city and hopefully discovering some jewels along the way

- tasting: bacause that's what it's all about when I travel; I would like to taste some of Berlin's culinary feats and have a good glass of wine (tough I'm afraid it's going to be white wine, which I don't like..)

- haunting for a thimble: another dear friend of mine collects thimbles with her dad and I help them build their thimble empire; so far I think I got them Valencia, Sicily, Napoli, Pisa, Venice, Bologna, Scotland, a few Romanian ones, Lisbon. The only one I've missed is Milan and maybe I'm forgetting a few. I kind of see these as my own little trophes during my discovery of the world *Ady Da Gama*

- having coffee & cake: I love the kind of book stores that serve coffee and where you can quitely enjoy your own book. I'll maybe buy a book as a souvenir for my trip [did it on my last trip to Milan]

- and most important: spending time with my friend and filling each other up on stories and the drama we've been through lately [let's be honest, we women can make a lot of drama 'bout nothing]

I really look up to my friend. She left her country, solo, stayed for a year in Belgium, now moved to Berlin and got herself a room and a job there. I drive myself crazy sometimes, wishing to do the same, getting out of my comfort zone and jump. Maybe I'll fall, but oh boy, what if I fly?!! I keep telling myself: SOMEDAY
For now, I'll see how my next solo trip to the Big Apple will turn out.

In the time being: preppin' for Berlin

I found this cool website I'd like to share with you: www.visitacity.com
It comes in very handy when you go to a city that wasn't necessarily on your bucketlist, but where you just happen to go and don't know where to start. You pick the number of days you want to *act like a tourist* and it gives you an itinarary, map and background information on the place. My highlights are: der Berliner Wall & Dom, der Holocaust Memorial, der Brandenburg Gate & Unter den Linden,...
