Aruba - It's time to say goodbye

4 months! That is how long it takes for a place to feel somewhat like home.

You get a job, you make friends, you have fun, you create some kind of routine or weekly activities for yourself. Before you know it, you are living a life as a local and not any more as a traveler.

So, after 4 months I am leaving home again. It's not exactly the same feeling like when I left Belgium, but it has its similarities.

I started selling my stuff again and giving or throwing away what I don't need any more. I'm happy to say that 'the beast' (my car) and my bike got sold, all in 1 day! I had to go to work without means of transportation for 2 days. But it wouldn't be Aruba if the solution was not a creative one.

While walking to work on of the last days, a car stopped to give me a ride. It happened to be a semi-colleague from another kitesurfschool. He took me to the beach where he worked and from there I took the boat and drove it to work. (This only happens on Aruba 😄).
The water was so peaceful and breathtaking! It made me realize that I am going to miss this, even tough I'm getting bored on the island. A beautiful sight or sunset never gets boring!

I have met so many people here, made friends. It's hard to process the feeling of saying goodbye and leaving them, knowing that you probably won't see them again, ever. In a way it makes me sad. But I have to move on. My journey is only about to start. Adventure awaits me! The world is waiting for me to explore it, to share it's beauty with whoever is interested to see it.

There are so many small things that I am going to miss on this island. But it's these small things that make Aruba big for me.

Thank you Aruba, you have been good to me. I hope to see you again someday.

World,
I am ready for you!

With love,
Adriana
